365 Day Post: 94

Ok… it’s not what it looks like.  Ugh, it is but not as bad as it could be. This late post is brought to you by a woman with so much to do and so little time.  Picture it, leave work and pick up kids,  rush home and cook dinner.  From there figure out meal plan for camping trip and go shopping for trip. Also need to make something for a dish to pass so fudge it is. Now that all the shopping is done I had to pack and bake fudge. I have an interview tomorrow so I need to prepare for tomorrow and the camping trip.  I didn’t feel like making my lunch and picked up a salad instead.

365 Day Project: 92

There’s a baseball game happening and when I went out to catch a photo for tonight I was a little bummed. We have a storm moving in and the field lights drowned out the storm clouds. I drove to a seasonal drive-in style diner and the sky still didn’t show up. I think I need to look up some more tutorials for lighting and clouds.

365 Day Project: 82 UPDATED

I’m posting this from our Ostara celebration and I’ll fill in the information tomorrow. I’m glad to post my photo.

UPDATE:
Last night was so much fun. I really wanted to try and take a decent picture of the fire spinning. I think I should have adjusted my ISO and maybe held the phone more still. I really need to get a tripod or Gorillapod for the phone. It was awesome last night but that’s for a different post. I tried to frame the image following the rule of thirds.

My daughter had a really good idea after I lit a candle and I wish I had worked more with the angle of the cell phone. It was a tight squeeze with the candle, incense burner, and the shadow. I wanted to try my hand at another dramatically edited image and this was a great opportunity. I’m REALLY happy with the final image.

365 Day Project: 42

I don’t know why tonight was so difficult? I couldn’t concentrate on my end goal. I have been running around trying to get everything in order for the storm coming in tonight and after work hours stress could also have something to do with it. My husband was patient with me as we drove around trying to find something that piqued my interest. Then we both saw the shadows from the fencing and the light and thought it would be perfect. What do y’all think? The hex codes for an awesome ‘twilight’ feel for this analogous color palette is listed below from left to right as always.

365 Day Project: 41

I’ve been busy since Saturday morning and looks like there isn’t any slowing down into next week. Add ANOTHER snowstorm on top of everything just adds more time for things to get done. My photo for today was actually taken last night. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity of trying my hand at both dark photography and fire. I couldn’t get the streaks of flames to happen even after working with the pro settings in my phone.

This was taken at the Disting event that my husband, son and I attended and I’m glad that we did. More on that later, I’m tired and will be catching up on comments and emails in the morning. Have a great and safe evening Y’all.

365 Day Project: 32

Day 32 but February 1st. I almost put that it was the first day because it’s the first month. I’m tired and exhausted. I really shot this ‘from the hip’. My husband was driving us to dinner and I demanded that he stopped the car. I thought where we were sitting it was framed nicely and the beautiful colors were a breath of fresh air after almost an entire week of Polar Vortex colors. Color palette (custom as I wanted to catch as many beautiful colors as I could) hex codes are listed left to right. Have a great night everyone. Now I’m going to overthink my comic for tomorrow.

365 Day Project: 25

All I can say is at least I made my midnight deadline. It’s unbelievably freezing so I hate to admit that all I did was roll down the window and moved the car forward to capture this photo.  But, WOW! How did I get something to look so regal? This is actually a house that my husband and I made a bid on when we first moved to the state. I didn’t realize how much money was required to maintain a home like this and the rules. This house is located on a historic block and homeowners have a specific set of rules set by the town that need to be followed. It’s a good thing that we were outbid because I don’t do rules all that well.

365 Day Project: 24

The temperatures are dropping to a deathly cold -°32 starting tonight into tomorrow. I left to drop the kiddos off for their sister only dinner and it was °22  and 45 minutes later it was °16 NOT including windchills. I decided that I would try to take an image earlier than usual but still getting dark. I thought this picture captured the pure cold and bitterness outside but a warm hearth family inside. Try to contrast cold and warm in a photo and I thought it turned out better than I expected.

365 Day Project: 23

This is going to be quick as I’m exhausted dealing with snow, work, kids, you know life in general. I’m not feeling too good about weigh-in tomorrow so I’m going to head to bed and sleep my worries away.

365 Day Project: 22

I had every intention of getting out and taking my picture before night but the school let out early due to the impending storm and the kids made plans. Rushing around trying to get everything done and it’s just NOW starting to snow! I needed to improvise and stayed in the neighborhood and didn’t get out of the car. Umm…it’s cold enough I half expect penguins to knock on the door wanting fish! The color palette is listed below.

365 Day Project: 21

I have to say after an emotionally draining day there was a place of zen editing the photo for today’s project. I’m running out of lights and night in the local store windows. This means I need to come up with a plan B for photo subjects. Tomorrow is going to be a little more difficult with the snow storm coming in.

365 Day Project: 19

I was letting the dog out this morning or rather watching my husband-I just wanted to see how much snow we got when I thought I had a perfect shot. Playing with composition and lighting and adding my usual editing taps I was happy with the final image. Again, I managed a complementary color palette and the hex codes are listed below. Happy Saturday everyone. I was super productive creatively today.

365 Day Project: 18

I did a little research today and learned some things about cell phone photography and a little about Instagram. Being the evening time and trying to prepare dinner for the family and the snow storm coming in made for some busy streets in this small town. I am totally in love with the Friday night lights on the main street in this photo. We were able to snag a parking spot right in front of the town’s only liquor store. We got there in between people stocking up for the storm even though it’s moving out as quickly as coming in and nevermind roads will be plowed come morning. Love the subtle nod to my favorite whiskey…do you see it? I did find some other great lights at night images to take but we had to get back and I couldn’t handle being out and about when EVERYONE else was. Could I be falling in love with this town? It could never hold a candle to where and how I grew up but I can see the charm. I have no idea about the color palette but I like the regal brightness I could capture. Codes are below left to right.

365 Day Project: 17

I think I need to make taking pictures during the daylight more of a priority after work. I thought about doing it during my lunch breaks but A. There isn’t anything interesting where I work and B. If I’m driving around I don’t get to eat my lunch and for a dieting gal like me, that’s not good. Although I did learn something about my town that I haven’t noticed in almost 7 years. Our library has a name! And a cool name at that! I think the palette is complimentary but only because of one color but the codes are listed below from left to right. Happy Thursday everyone!

365 Day Project: 15

I cannot believe that I have stuck with this for 15 days! I have downloaded a new camera app and it has allowed me to take tonight’s photo with more lighting than my regular cellphone app. This was once the home to an awesome small town restaurant that unfortunately could not compete with the larger towns that are less than 30 miles away. This small town is where hopes and dreams of business owners come to die. Part of the reason why I don’t freelance for my area. Now what I’ve just learned is that I need to practice more using this app, work on organization and storage, and get a tripod of some sort for the phone. I think my color palette for the color theory portion of my project is monochromatic and hex codes are listed below from left to right.

365 Day Project: 14

I’m really wishing I had lenses and a tripod for my phone. UGH! What I see and what my phone see are two different things. Especially now that I have my new prescription glasses. I’m trying to take photos in such a way at night that doesn’t have to much grain. If I try to edit the grain out then I lose detail so it was several attempts and an hour screwing with editing to get what I was somewhat pleased with the bridge and lights image tonight. Being from Texas I will FULLY OWN being a winter weenie and will not get out of the car unless it was an emergency. I’m hoping as it warms up I’ll get out of the car and perhaps improve the grain on night photos. As always the hex codes for my complimentary color theory palette portion of my project are listed from left to right. I’m finding that it’s getting to become rather easy for me to pick that palette out and need to try to push myself for other palettes. Happy Monday everyone (if there is ever such a thing).

365 Day Project: 11

I found a little humor in my image. Being from Texas this is the equivalent to a southern tardis. Dr. Pepper is my Achilles heel and it’s hard to find in restaurants in my northern area. Until we can get the funds to get back south this is like a little oasis in a frozen tundra. I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried dramatic editing and I wish the framing had turned out better. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully, it won’t be so cold. Have a safe Friday evening. The hex colors for my monochromatic color palette as always listed from left to right.

365 Day Project: 8

My husband assisted in driving me around so I can continue my project. I had my eye exam this afternoon and had my eyes dilated for the first time. That sums up what I was able to see. I picked this image because the colors were easy for me to decipher shapes with my dilated pupils. I think I was even able to nail an analogous color palette. Hex colors are listed below from left to right. Off to bed to rest my eyes…more on that later. Have a great evening.

365 Day Project: 7

The weather here in Wisconsin (or at least my area) is SUPER icky right now. Cold, wet, rainy, and windy doesn’t exactly scream for me to get out of the car. I figured the only way to get better at taking photos at night with my phone is to get out there and do it! Trying to work with framing, composition and figuring out lighting options on my phone proved to be a difficult task. Especially when I’m trying to capture photos without someone calling the cops on me (yeah I live in that kind of town). I think this would be a monochromatic palette or Analogous. I’m not going to lie it’s giving me a bit of anxiety trying to figure out which one. The hex codes are below from left to right. Have a great night everyone!
